The coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis threatens to delay the implementation of climate policies worldwide. The negative consequences of climate change warrant undiminished attention, however. Although the coronavirus crisis temporarily depresses global carbon emissions, a structural reduction in emissions is needed to meet the Paris climate targets. It is therefore essential to seize the opportunity and aim for a green recovery from the coronavirus crisis. The current situation of low interest rates and low energy prices may help achieve this.
